Decking forms the levels of your racks in addition to the beams: chipboard decking, wooden panels, wire-mesh decks, steel gratings or steel shelves. The 19 mm chipboard deck is the most economical option and carries 402 to 864 kg depending on length; reinforced wire-mesh decks go up to 1,500 kg. Which decking for your rack?
The choice depends on the load, the container and the environment:
- Manual loads or half pallets on medium-duty racks: 19 mm chipboard decking, the most economical
- Pallets carried by the beams: wooden panel or wire-mesh deck (up to 1,500 kg reinforced)
- Heavy loads without transfer to the beams: 1,000 kg steel grating
- Wet environments, sprinklers or hygiene: prefer wire-mesh or grating, which let water and light through
- Always check the permissible load shown on the rack load notice: decking does not increase it
