How to make your warehouse safe?
EN 15635 provides a prevention and inspection framework around racking; the measures to retain depend on the risk assessment and the site:
- Identify frame feet, aisle ends and areas exposed to forklifts, then select suitable guards, rails or barriers
- Assess pallet stops and rear retention where parcels or pallets could fall towards an accessible area
- Display loads from the validated design and train forklift drivers to respect the approved configuration
- Set inspection frequency and the competent person's role according to the manufacturer, operation and site rules
- Isolate and have any damaged or deformed component checked before reuse; capacity cannot be inferred from a visual check alone
