How should warehouse handling equipment be sized?
Select equipment from the real operation, not from one generic load figure:
- Record the weight, dimensions and centre of gravity of parcels, drums, bins and pallets; the final capacity is the one stated for the selected model
- Describe frequency, distance, gradients and floor type to select wheels, braking and handling effort
- Measure aisles, doors, turning radii and picking heights alongside racking and emergency routes
- For work at height, define working height, intervention time, access and whether a secured platform is needed
- Have load rating, stability, installation, maintenance and operator training confirmed in the project file
