Which picking shelving for your daily order volume?
Order volume guides the equipment level, but sizing must also include order lines, SKUs, operators, parcel dimensions and replenishment:
- Low volume or a stable assortment: light-duty picking, with levels and depth matched to bins, cartons or small parts
- Growing volume and high SKU density: compare light and medium duty, then study multiple tiers and their access equipment
- High, regular throughput: compare manual preparation, conveyors, carton flow or shuttles after a flow study; no universal threshold is published
- Heavy or bulky SKUs: combine picking at the preparation level with pallet-rack reserve, validating the loads for each system
